Rocna anchors are designed to set quickly and reliably in almost all seabed types. However, some environments can challenge any anchor—Rocna included.
-
Rocky or coral bottoms: These present the biggest challenges. While a Rocna can sometimes grab onto a rock or into a crevice better than other designs, it may also become fouled or stuck.
Important: Never anchor on live coral. -
Flat, solid slabs of rock or coral pan: These offer no grip at all. In such cases, you may have to rely on the anchor’s dead weight and friction rather than penetration. This is one reason some cruisers choose to use oversized anchors in difficult conditions.
